April Ross
April Ross is one of the few female beach volleyball stars to win medals at more than one Olympics. Alix klineman, who is playing for the first time in Tokyo's Olympics, will try to earn her third gold medal. Ross aims to earn her Olympic first gold medal however, she also hopes to earn even more. It may well be that it is her last chance at winning, as she's 39 old. Still confident nevertheless. Ross declared on NBC Boston: "If we do our best and even playing well I believe we can get the gold medal." In addition, I'll try the chance to have chance. Ross was born in California in Costa Mesa in 1982. Her family lived in the area with her mother, father and younger sister. Along with playing in numerous sports, Ross also attended Newport Harbor High School. In addition to the indoor game, she also played basketball and jogged track as a pre-collegiate athlete. In her final game she was clearly the standout. When she played in her college volleyball season as per her college profile, she played as a middle-blocker, outside-hitter and setter. For her efforts she was named in 1999 as the Gatorade Circle of Champions National Player of the Year. Additionally, in 2000, she was recognized as the Orange County Athlete of the year for volleyball. Ross is currently working with Klineman from 2017, but Ross's beach game had been established long before that. In fact, she's had the chance to win numerous events, and one was won by an iconic volleyball player. She teamed up along with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, and was also Klineman's trainer. Kessy as well as Ross proved to be a formidable force in the international circuit, winning the world championship in 2009 as a team. The pair eventually picked up a silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. They were defeated for the gold by the legendary group of Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross Jennings took over for May-Treanor after she had retired. They took home the bronze medal in beach volleyball at the Rio Olympics in 2016. Ross began her college time with the Trojans at USC after graduation from high school. It was a long time before Ross made her debut on the beach, and then became a pro. Her career was a success during her time in the NCAA tournament. The year 2000 was her freshman year. earned her the Pac-10 as well as NCAA Freshman's of the Award and also be named an All-American. Additionally, she assisted her Trojans to reach the Final Four. The Trojans were devastated through a tragedy in her life during her sophomore year. However, she went on to be an All-American again. Over her final two years in the program she led the Trojans towards the summit netting three consecutive championships at the national level. As an individual Ross established her status as a legend when she won the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. This prize was awarded to the top female college volleyball players in the United States. Ross was an international relations major at USC. Margie Ross, Ross' mother, was never given the privilege of watching her daughter grow into an international beach volleyball star. Ross's mother died of cancer of the breast in 2001. Ross had just become an undergraduate student in the second year at USC. She continues to cherish her late parent. Also, Margie continues to be an encouragement for her on the beach as well as in everyday her daily life.
