April Ross

April Ross, a beach volleyball star in the US is part of a select set of females who've won medals in more than one Olympics. Alix Klineman, playing for the first time at Tokyo's Olympic Games is hoping to secure her third Olympic medal. Ross will also be hoping for her first Olympic medal. Since she's 39 years old she could have her final chance. However, she's convinced that top prizes are in reach. Ross was quoted by NBC Boston as saying that when you perform at your very top, even if you perform well, you will win the gold. "I'm planning to test a little luck." Ross was born in Costa Mesa, California in the year 1982. Her parents as well as her sister lived there. Along with competing in various sports, Ross also attended Newport Harbor High School. When she was a student in the prep school she was a participant in the indoor game of volleyball, as well as basketball and running track. However, she was a standout during this game. Based on her bio, she played a middle blocker and an outside hitting volleyball player during her senior year at high school. Her efforts were recognized in 1999 when she was named Gatorade's National Circle of Champions Player of the Year. The year 2000 was the time she was awarded her the Orange County Athlete of the Year award in volleyball. Ross has been playing alongside Klineman since the year 2017, but Ross's beach game was established well before the year. It's true that she has had the chance to win numerous events, and one was won by the legendary player of volleyball. For six years from 2007 until 2013, she was a team together with Jennifer Kessy who more recently served as her and Klineman's coach. Together, Kessy Ross was an ace on the international circuit winning an international title in 2009. In 2012, the pair took silver in London's Olympic Games. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) as well as Misty Maytreanor took home gold beating them to it. As fate would have it Ross became Walsh Jennings' new partner after May-Treanor's retirement. They both won bronze in beach volleyball at the Rio Olympics in the year the year 2016. After high school and years before she hit the sand professionally, Ross was a ball to the Trojans at USC while a collegiate. The Trojans had a great run for Ross at the school. In 2000, as a freshman she played her way to Pac-10 and NCAA Freshman of the Year accolades. She also was an All-American. The Trojans had the chance to reach the Final Four with her help. The Trojans suffered a significant personal loss during her sophomore year, however, she was capable of achieving the All-American distinction. Through her final two seasons with the Trojans she was instrumental in helping them achieve consecutive championships. Individually she had cemented herself as an all-time legend by winning the 2003-2004 Honda Sports Award as the most outstanding female college volleyball player. Ross was a student at USC in International Relations. Margie Ross was never able to watch her daughter's rise to the beach volleyball spotlight. As of 2001, when Ross was in her sophomore year at USC her mother passed away due to breast cancer. In the aftermath, Ross continues to be close to her deceased parent. And Margie continues to be an encouragement for her on the beach and in the world of.
