April Ross

April Ross was one of just a handful of women beach volleyball players who have won medals in several Olympics. Alix klineman, who is competing for the first time at Tokyo's Olympic Games and will attempt to win her third medal. Ross wants to achieve more than her first Olympic medal. This may be the last opportunity she gets at age 39. She is still confident but she is not sure. Ross stated to NBC Boston that if they are at their absolute best and even play well her team will be able to win the gold medal. So I'm going to take the chance also. Ross was born on the 22, 1982, located in Costa Mesa California. She lived there along with her entire family. She was able to participate in a myriad of activities in Newport Harbor High School. When she was a student in the prep school, she competed in the indoor game of volleyball, as well as basketball as well as running track. She was definitely superior to the rest in this latter game. When she played in her college volleyball season in her university bio, she was an outside-hitter, middle blocker and setter. As a tribute to her efforts she was awarded the Gatorade Award for National Player 1999. Also, in 2000 she was awarded the Orange County Athlete of the year for volleyball. Ross and Klineman may have begun working together in 2017, but Ross had already been a seasoned athlete at the beach prior to when they joined forces. The fact is, she's had numerous big wins and one partner was a volleyball superstar. From 2007 until 2013, she was a team with Jennifer Kessy who more recently was Klineman's coach. Together together with Kessy Ross was awarded the World Championship in 2009, while racing on the international circuit. In 2012, the duo took silver in London's Olympics. Misty May Treanor and Kerri Jennings the legendary team that won the 2012 Olympic Games in London, took each other to take home the gold medal. Ross Jennings was May-Treanor's replacement as she left the team. Together, they won bronze medals in beach volleyball for the Rio Olympics in 2016. Ross began her collegiate career with the USC Trojans following her high school days. It was a long time before Ross made her debut on the beach and became a pro. Her experience at USC was awe-inspiring. In 2000, as a freshman she earned Pac-10 and NCAA Freshman of the Year accolades. She also was an All-American. Her performance also assisted in helping the Trojans get to into the Final Four. After her sophomore year she was devastated by a personal loss and still managed to earn the honor of being named an All-American. During her final two seasons as a member of the Trojans in the program they won success by winning two successive national titles. In her own way she established herself as a legend when she won the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. The award is given to the best female college volleyball players in the nation. Ross studied international relations at USC. Unfortunately, Ross mother Margie did not get to see her daughter ascend to the very top of beach volleyball fame. Margie, Ross's mother, passed away in 2001. Ross was still an USC sophomore. She had breast cancer. But, she will always keep her mother's memory close and close. Margie has been an inspiration in her life and on the beaches.
