Lucy Liu (born Lucy Liu) is an American voice actor director producer, and vocalist. As an intelligent and attractive actor, Lucy Liu acts as a role model for many Asian actors who are in Hollywood who wish to make it big. An early string of success appearances in popular television series led to her becoming famous for joining the cast on Ally McBeal, where she played Ling Woo. The fame she gained from the show was translated into movie roles, such as Shanghai Noon or Charlie's Angels. The film Kill Bill Volume 1, Quentin Tarantino, she gave an impressive performance in the role of Japanese crime boss O-Ren Ishii. In the same period she appeared in box-office failures including Rise: Blood Hunter. Then, she was able to play characters that were prominent in animation films, such as Kung Fu Panda. Mia Mason from Cashmere Mafia was a minor role that didn't have any impact. Southland was a highly acclaimed police show in which Liu appeared regularly, was a role which helped to reestablish she is famous as an actress. Liu is extremely careful when picking her roles so that she doesn't get typecast. Though she's proud of her heritage, she does not let it limit her imagination.
