Lee Roy Selmon's history combines family football scholarships and volunteerism in the community. First of all, he was brought up with Lucious as well as Jessie Selmon on the farm close to Eufala within Oklahoma as the youngest of the nine children they had. Also, he was one of three siblings who represented Oklahoma in football. All three became All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey was an All-Star for the whole 1973 season. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards and Lombardi Awards. He was one of the top linemen in the entire nation. For three seasons as a starter Oklahoma went 32- 1-1 and won two national championships. In his role as an National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon was given a scholarship for the third season in the year 1975. Selmon received a diploma as an educator. Lee Roy spent ten hours a week on volunteer work throughout his time at college. Following college, he moved to Tampa and played for nine seasons with the Buccaneers was the all-pro 3 times, and began a business career. The first job he had was an Account Relations Manager at First Florida Bank, Tampa. He was a member in the past for Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It was not a surprise when, in 1982, The Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy as one of the 10 young stars across the country. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in the height department and weighed 256 lbs as a college player he played for the team of 1975. Lee Roy joined the University of South Florida in 1993 as an Associate Director of Sports. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988, and the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1995, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave an award of the Distinguished American Award for 1989 to Lucious Selmon, Jr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma gave it to them.
